The No-Scatterbrain Strategy

Hey there — last time we cracked the code on keeping your energy all day (no mid-afternoon crash zone ✅).

Now let’s talk about the next challenge: FOCUS.

Because let’s be real…
➡️ It’s one thing to have the energy.
➡️ It’s another to actually use it on the right things.

Ever sat at your desk, full of energy, but still found yourself deep in the TikTok/YouTube/“how did I end up on Wikipedia reading about penguins” rabbit hole? 🐧
Yeah, same.

Good news: focus isn’t some rare talent that only monks in the mountains have. It’s a skill. And you can train it.

Here are four ways to turn your fresh energy into laser-sharp focus:

1. The 90/20 Rule (Work With Your Brain, Not Against It)
Your brain doesn’t run on an endless battery — it runs in cycles. About 90 minutes of solid concentration is all it can give before it starts begging for a break.

So instead of grinding for hours until your eyes glaze over… try this:

  • Focus hard for 90 minutes.
  • Then reward yourself with a 20-minute break — stretch, grab water, walk outside, stare at clouds.

You’ll come back refreshed, and your productivity will double without doubling your effort.

2. Kill the “Tab Chaos” (Your Attention is Expensive!)
Here’s the harsh truth: every open tab is like a toddler tugging on your sleeve saying, “Look at me! Look at me!”

Before you know it, you’ve got 19 tabs open, Spotify is fighting with YouTube, and your actual task is buried somewhere between.

The fix?

  • Pick ONE screen, ONE task.
  • If you must keep something open, use a tool like “Tab Snooze” or just bookmark and close it.

Remember: focus thrives in a clutter-free digital space.

3. The Power of “Start Small” (Trick Your Brain Into Action)
Some days, focus feels impossible. Your brain screams, “I can’t do this giant thing right now!”

Here’s the hack: don’t try to do the giant thing.

  • Just start with 5 minutes.
  • Tell yourself, “I’ll just write one sentence / answer two emails / clean this tiny corner.”

The magic? Once you start, momentum kicks in. 5 minutes turns into 30. Suddenly you’re in flow.

4. Build a “Focus Ritual” (Yes, Like a Superhero Suit-Up Scene)
Ever notice how athletes have rituals before games? It signals to their brain: it’s go time.

You can do the same. Pick a few small actions that tell your brain “focus mode starts now”:
☕ Brewing a coffee or tea
🎧 Putting on a certain playlist
🕯 Lighting a candle or diffuser
✍️ Opening your planner and writing your top 3 tasks

When repeated, your brain associates the ritual with focus. Boom — instant flow.

Pro-tip (aka Tough Love):
Your phone is not your friend when it comes to focus. It’s like that one friend who texts, “u up?” at 2 a.m. 🙄 — fun in the moment, but guaranteed to derail your goals.

For your first 90-minute sprint? Put it in another room. Seriously. Out of sight, out of mind = out of distraction.

So here’s the deal: energy + focus = your unstoppable combo. 💥

Next time, I’ll share my secret weapon for staying productive even when motivation completely disappears.
(It’s not coffee… and it’s definitely not “just push harder.”)

Stay tuned — you’ll thank me for this one. 😉
